If you are a student like me, most likely every penny counts. And while we always tell ourselves at the beginning of the month, that this time around things will be different, we still somehow end up with a lot month left while the money is all gone.

Somehow the expenses just sneak up on us and before we know it we have spent more than we told ourselves we would. Here is a list of items you should avoid spending money on.

1. Stop buying yourself coffee every day

While it could be quite tempting to stop at Starbucks on your way to school or work in the morning, it can be a very expensive habit. Instead, why don't you make your own cup to go at home and while you might have to get up a bit earlier, you certainly won't be wasting your time in a drive-through?

2. The same goes for lunch

Yes, it's so easy to just buy lunch every day instead of investing the time and energy the night before or in the morning to make your own lunch. However, chances are that you would not only save yourself quite a bit of money if you made it but you would also tend to eat healthier than going with one of the fast food options that are available.

3. Fast fashion

It is true, H&M and the sorts do have super cute clothes to really affordable prizes but how often do you find yourself having to throw away that item after a couple of months because it has holes in it or other flaws that make it impossible to wear? Instead, you should invest in some more high-end pieces that will last you longer. While you might not enjoy paying for them at the time, it will definitely save you money in the long run.

4. Unnecessary memberships

At the time it might seem like a really great idea to join that gym or subscribe to that online website but how much use do you actually get out of it? If you notice that you are not using it as much as you initially thought, cancel that membership. That is money that you would be able to save each month instead of it going to something that you don't use enough to make it worth your while.

5. Shipping and other fees

Too often we believe that we need something right away that we pay outrages shipping and handling fees to get it the very next day. Unless this is an emergency always go with the option that doesn't cost you extra. Yes, you might have to wait a while but what's wrong with that? Wasn't the anticipation about Christmas as a child almost better than the actual event? It's ok to not have everything right away!

6. Paying for things that you might get for free or at a discounted price

Especially if you are a student like me, there are amazing discounts out there that we might not be aware of. Being a student has many perks of getting discounts or things for free is one of them. Of course, these are things that are not hugely advertised so go out of your way to find out about them. You might be surprised to see that you can actually get that concert ticket for half the price with your student ID instead of having to pay full. This will definitely save you money each month.

There are tons of ways in which you can save money each month. Take some time and really look at your spending habits and see where you can cut back. Yes, it's tedious to do but it is part of becoming an adult, so get used to it!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
