Stop Scrutinizing Women's Bodies

Hint: There is no perfect body.

Hello, I'm a girl. I know with this name you may not be completely sure but I confirming for you right now that I identify as a woman. For that reason, I have so many complaints about the way society scrutinizes women's bodies.

I really hate the way, as a society, we think it's okay to talk trash about female celebrities' bodies. For example, last year Selena Gomez posted a picture of her on vacation in a bathing suit. Suddenly hundreds of thousands of people were calling her fat.

Which, for one she looked GREAT. But also, who gave you the right?! She didn't ask for your opinion she truthfully just posted that photo because it made her feel good. Which is exactly what she said when she had to defend herself on Twitter.

My thing is, why did she have to defend herself? None of this should've happened in the first place.

Two other popular targets of body shaming are Kelly Clarkson and Demi Lovato. Kelly Clarkson has two whole kids. So I'm happy she's still alive and sane. Not to mention that she also looks GREAT. Demi has been picked on about her weight for years and I truly don't know why? To me, she's always been so cute and honestly, she's really been slaying lately. So when people talk bad about the way she looks it hurts me a bit.

Am I a huge fan of any of these women? No, not in the slightest. I don't think I'll ever be into Selena's music. But I don't think they deserve to be treated the way they do.

I'm so tired of women being labeled "too fat." To me as long as she's happy with herself and the way she looks, no woman is too anything. Also, I really don't think most people realize that being "fat" doesn't mean you're unhealthy.

There are plenty of "fat" people who are more healthy than you or I will ever be. Lastly, I think the dumb people who body shame women need to remember that being "fat" isn't based solely on what you eat or how much you eat, it involves genetics and how fast your body can metabolize said food.

The opposite of this is telling girls they're too skinny. I have a friend who has repeatedly been asked by people if she's anorexic. For one, why would you go up to a random stranger and ask if they have an eating disorder? Two, I can confirm that she does not.

And it makes me sad that that is something that she has to deal with on a regular basis. shes such a sweet girl and she's so pretty. She doesn't deserve that.

I really don't like how people criticize women with slender bodies and tell them that "nobody likes seeing your bones." Also, why is it always a question of "do you eat?" or "do you have an eating disorder?" Maybe, just maybe, some women have a high metabolism. People really love to tell these girls to "put some clothes on" because "no one wants to see that." STOP SAYING THAT!

Despite what we think about celebrities, they are actually real people. So they can have varying boy types and that's completely okay. Us regulars also have varying body types which ARE ALSO COMPLETELY OKAY.

This may come as surprise to some, but there is no perfect body. Everyone's definition of perfect is different therefore there can be no universal perfect body. I would say that as long as you have a body that you're happy with, that's what makes it perfect. I just want women everywhere to love themselves and the skin they're in. Trust me, I know how hard hta can be and I'm not even 100% there yet. And even if you don't love you, I do.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
