Your Year Did Not Suck

Every year, people say how much the year sucked and how much better the next year will be.

Your Year Did Not Suck

Just stop. No seriously, stop. Everyone on my twitter feed is saying how much 2018 sucked and how 2019 is going to "finally be their year".

LITERALLY, THIS IS SAID EVERY FREAKIN YEAR!

There is no possible way that every year sucks. It can't. Yes, I understand that you can have bad days every year. But, to say that a whole entire year was bad is stupid. I am not saying that bad things don't happen to people, but I am saying that if you are alive and breathing it can't be that bad.

Maybe you had a bad breakup or someone in your family died. Maybe you failed or hit a low point in your life. But these cannot be the reason that the rest of the year is awful. Just think of the people who lost their homes in the Californian wildfires, of young women who cannot have an education in the Middle East or all the families that got separated because of war. Now, these are reasons that can make a year horrible. But, for someone to tweet that 2018 was the worst year ever, when in fact I know that they had a couple of days, is stupid. Chances are, you're just doing it for likes-sorry.

I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but I cannot imagine having a year in my life so terrible that I have to complain about it on social media.

This year has been filled with so many good things: my acceptance to MSU, my high school graduation, new and old friends, memorable times with my family, a full calendar year with my boyfriend and, of course, writing for Odyssey.

Please stop saying that this past year has been shitty. I hope that 2019 and every year after that is not labeled the worse year of anyone's life. You have to look for your own happiness and I sure as hell know that whining about it isn't gonna fix your negativity in the past.

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk💋

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
