Sit down and think about it. How much of your time and energy do you waste on things that are not actually benefiting your life? It is so easy to think the world is out to get you, but in reality, you are out to get yourself and you may not even know it. We are so quick to blame everything around us for being the source of unhappiness, when in fact we are the ones unconsciously hurting ourselves. How we think and carry ourselves, sets the tone for how the world around us will treat us. Here are some things you should stop putting yourself through.
1. Stop defending your limitations.
Setting limitations for yourself are only hindering your potential. You are confined only by the walls you build yourself.
2. Quit hanging out with the wrong crowd.
You are the mixture of your closest friends. Choose wisely. Be brave enough to let go of those who are weighing you down. Find those who see greatness in you even when you may not.
3. Stop dwelling on the past.
Do not let the past drag you down. The past is just that, the past. Refuse to live backwards. The only time you should look back is to see how far you have come.
4. Stop trying to make everyone like you.
You could be the ripest peach of them all and there is still someone out there who doesn't like peaches. Being a people pleaser, this is my hardest pill to swallow. Do not beg for other's attention or approval and use that energy for improving yourself, for you.
5. Stop finding worth in the world around you.
What you are is eternal, while what you have is temporary. Do not enslave yourself to the world around you. Don't let the world's negativity disenchant your heart's desires. Do not the world around you devalue you just because they don't know your value in the way you do.
6. Stop waiting for the future.
This could not be more cliché, but live every moment to the fullest. Go. Live. Do. I feel as humans, we are always waiting. Waiting for the end of the day. Waiting for the weekend. Waiting for the next big adventure. Stop spending your life waiting for the next good event to come, but make this moment, the one you have right here, your good event.
7. Stop trying to perfect everything.
You were born to be real, not perfect. Trying to chase the illusion of perfection is exhausting and forever unsatisfying.
