I Want My Generation To Live Long And Prosper, But If The Juul Addiction Continues That Won’t Be A Reality

Society has traded in cigarettes for something that can literally blow up in your face.

I Want My Generation To Live Long And Prosper, But If The Juul Addiction Continues That Won’t Be A Reality
Teens of today, what the hell are you doing? Sure, this is just another fad and it'll pass, but it's literally killing you. More people are dying by the hands of JUUL than regular cigarettes. The JUUL epidemic is close to beating out the opioid epidemic.

The FDA reported that 3.6 million middle school and high school kids are addicted to e-cigarettes. 3.6 million kids from the age of 11 to 18 are smoking. 3.6 million kids are addicted to nicotine. 3.6 kids are shortening their life.

I understand how quickly trends can pick up, especially with today's society — we have technology that will give these big companies clout, but when something happens to you as a result of using these products these companies send out, they don't do anything about it. They rarely speak out. They rarely lose lawsuits. These big companies will also come out on top and teenagers and their families will always be on the losing end.

A 17-year-old had his e-cig blow up in his face and shatter his jaw.

A 17-year-old is going to be in pain for a while because he wanted to be cool and fit in. A 17-year-old will never be the same because of a USB drive that he put in his mouth.

Your parents told you to never stick a fork in a wall outlet. A JUUL is basically the fork and you are putting that in your mouth (aka, the wall outlet) and you are going to electrocute yourself (hopefully, you won't be on the receiving end of something fatal). The JUUL addiction is absolutely ridiculous and for the life of me, I cannot see why anybody would want to risk their lives to fit in with the "cool kids" who smoke under the bleachers.

I'm sorry, but my health and well-being are more important than a USB drive going in my mouth and damaging my lungs, killing my brain cells, and giving me shorter days. We aren't promised tomorrow, but I refuse to go out by the hands of JUUL.

It may smell better than cigarettes, but that doesn't make it less dangerous.

It may be cool to decorate and design your own pod, but that doesn't make you cool. You may like being able to walk freely with it because it doesn't classify as a cigarette, but will you like laying in a hospital bed or worse?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
