You'll Start Living Your Best Life When You Stop Trying To Please Everyone Else

If you ever had the chance to relive your day over and over again, what would you do differently?

There are so many times in life when people put expectations on you but have you ever stopped to think about what you really want for yourself?

Since time travel is not a reality yet, you do not get a chance to go back and change things in your life. You only have today to try to figure out who you are and what is most important to you. My question for you: what would you change about yourself today if you wanted to thrive tomorrow?

For starters, I am here to tell you to stop living someone else's version of YOUR personal life.

At a young age, adults are constantly asking you what you want to be when you grow older. They only let you have your wild dreams to some extent before they make you start to think more "seriously". You say rockstar; they say doctor. You say acrobatic circus performer; they say veterinarian. You say LET ME BE MYSELF; they say reality is not easy.

You are allowed to have big dreams and wild thoughts. If you are lucky enough to live a long life, you should be living it 100% as yourself instead of as a fake version of you.

Set your own expectations and then try to exceed them.

You know yourself better than anyone else ever could. You know who is important in your life. You know what you need to place in your life to make you feel safe and secure.

It could be your family, whether they have supported you all these years or not. It could be your siblings who may have fought with you at one point, but now you could never picture life without them.

It could be your friends, old or new, who would stick by your side even at the hardest of times.

It could be your teachers and faculty members who inspired and motivated you to continue your studies.

They all have their own expectations for you, but at the end of the day, you have to decide what matters.

Yesterday may have been tough. Tomorrow is unknown what may lie ahead for you. All you can control is right now today. You have the power to change yourself for the better.

If you ever had the chance to relive your day over and over again, what would you do differently? Use that as your motivation to make that change now.

Constantly I tell myself things that I want to start doing, but sometimes I never make an actual plan to achieve them. Life is full of empty promises, which can really hurt you at times. Put things into action if you want to reach your goals. That may be easier said than done, but it is possible.

Go out and do all those crazy and adventurous ideas you have in your head. If it helps you feel happy, go for it. If it helps you feel safe and secure, go for it. If it helps you feel more in control of your life, go for it. Get where I am going with this? Just go for it!

Expectations should make you want to just reach beyond them. Go be that acrobatic circus performer already! Someone has to start this plan, and it can only be you.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
