If you've been following up on the latest news stories this past week you know that Kim Kardashian-West was gagged, tied up and left in a bathroom begging for her life while robbers broke into her hotel room she was staying at in Paris this past weekend. They stole over $10 million dollars in jewelry, including Kardashian-West's $4.5 million dollar engagement ring. Like anyone, Kim is very fragile and mentally and emotionally traumatized from the incident. But if you've been looking on the internet people have been anything but nice.
While scrolling on twitter Sunday evening I found out about the incident and saw what people were saying. **Warning some of the comments might be disturbing.**
All I can say is wow. If this had been anyone besides a Kardashian, I'm sure people wouldn't be thinking/saying these nasty things. Kim Kardashian was a victim of something awful. She was stripped of her trust in a country she absolutely loves. And making fun of her is not okay. She's someone's mother, someone's daughter, a sister, a wife, a friend and a successful businesswoman. To say things like "They should've killed her" or saying she basically deserved to be raped, isn't okay. No human on this earth should ever be told they deserve to be sexually harassed. While we may not always agree with what Kim Kardashian-West does, she's still a person.
While most comments were negative, Celebrities like Chrissy Teigen were quick to defend Kardashian-West. She even got into quite a few arguments with people who aren't fans of Kim.
These were just a few comments I screenshotted. As you see above Teigen defended her friend quite profusely. Since then, she has made her twitter private stating "she's not strong enough anymore". Affected by all the negativity on her TL she made her twitter private also stating her mentions are much more positive now.Other celebrities including comedian James Corden and actress Jamie Lee Curtis were also quick to defend Kardashian-West saying that this isn't a joking matter and people should not be laughing about it. This was after comedians Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O'Brien made jokes about it on their shows.
Kim Kardashian-West is a victim of something awful. What happened to her was not her fault and people should stop blaming her and saying she deserved it because it's not her fault and should not be blamed for something so horrific. Due to the whole Ryan Lochte incident, people immediately thought this was a hoax. But it definitely wasn't. Kardashian-West would lose a lot for faking such a horrific incident. I'm almost certain losing a spot in Fashion Week isn't worth faking a robbery.
Remember Kardashian-West isn't a "special snowflake" she is a person. Besides, if it were you, would you want people joking about it, saying you deserved what happened to you if you had been a victim?
