It seems unreal that this fall semester of college has already passed. The year as a whole has completely flown by, and Christmas is quickly approaching. For those that also tend to procrastinate Christmas shopping as I do, here are some last-minute stocking stuffers that are perfect for any college student!

1. Fuzzy socks

Have you ever heard a girl claim, “I don’t love fuzzy socks”? I am sure you have not, because those girls simply do not exist. Fuzzy socks are such a simple gift and are perfect for anyone!

2. Gift cards to local restaurants

Gift cards to restaurants are great, because they allow us to finally eat somewhere other than the Union every once in awhile without feeling guilty for spending unnecessary money.

3. Gloves

Because no one should have to deal with frozen hands when carrying their daily Starbucks cup of coffee to class!

4. Wallflowers

Dorms are often filled with such an odd assortment of smells. While wax melters are prohibited, wallflowers are not, and they can get any dorm room smelling great in no time!

5. Portable chargers

These handy devices are super useful on those busy days with little time to charge your phone or to get you through those long football games after a few hours of tailgating.

6. Adhesive phone cardholder

Just about everything in college requires the use of a student ID. IDs are used to scan into class, enter the dorm, purchase food, attend games, enter certain buildings, and the list continues. I certainly would have lost my ID by now without my convenient little cardholder that sticks right to the back of my phone case to hold all of my cards!

7. Lint roller

While I cannot say that I lint roll my black leggings before class each day like I probably should, a lint roller definitely comes in handy in those occasional interviews and other formal settings in which I actually need to care about my appearance.

8. Subscription to Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime is a college essential for sure. The two-day shipping comes in handy for ordering books and other supplies or when you wait until the last minute to order everything like me. For college students, the first six months are free, and it is only $5.49 per month after!

9. Command hooks

You never realize just how versatile and essential these little things are until living in a dorm room!

10. Small umbrella

Nothing is worse than coming out of class and seeing that it randomly decided to rain and having to walk to your next location while getting drenched. This is why having a small umbrella that easily fits into a backpack pocket is so necessary!

11. Super long charger cord

Because regular charger cords are just not long enough 9/10 times.

12. Good pens

After taking copious amounts of notes in each class, additional large amounts of notes for studying, and possibly writing notes to yourself as daily reminders, you are more than likely to find yourself going through an excessive amount of pens. While pens, Sharpies, etc. might seem like such a simple gift, they are actually so practical!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
