Six Steps To Less Stress

There's one month of the semester left which means I'm officially in panic mode.

What if I told you that there’s a way to make the last month of the semester less stressful? Or what if I said I knew how to make you feel less stressed out overall?

To a certain point, stress is healthy for us in that it encourages us to do better, but too much of anything is never good.

Near the end of the semester, there are many tests and projects that are due, and things can quickly get overwhelming. So here are a few easy ways to minimize your stress.

Put your brain on pause. After you’ve finished one assignment, you need to do another assignment. And then after that assignment, you need to work on 10 other tasks.

The cycle never ends and it’s tempting to continue without a break because you just want to get all your work done. This stresses you out even more, so once in awhile stop everything you’re working on and just breathe.

Don’t procrastinate.Have you ever waited until the day an assignment was due to start on it? The stress and anxiety you would feel while rushing to meet deadlines is easily avoidable if you work on homework and study for tests at least two days in advance.

Having to work deadline to deadline, because you decided to work on assignments last-minute creates a high-pressure environment, and ultimately increases your stress levels.

Get a healthy amount of sleep. Let your brain and body completely relax for at least seven to eight hours a night.

This also means that you shouldn’t be staying up all night to study for exams. Sleep is necessary for your body to recover from a long day of work, and it also helps relieve stress.

Eat properly. Eating well-balanced meals are important because that leads to a healthier body that is better prepared to cope with stress.

Also, try not to consume large amounts of caffeine and energy drinks because they can make you more anxious and stressed out.

Relieve your stress. Whether it’s going for a run, talking to a friend, or dancing in front of a mirror, find a healthy way to relax. It’s unhealthy to let stress build up inside of you.

Deal with one thing at a time. As students, we’re given multiple tasks to accomplish in short amounts of time.

It’s less stressful if you focus on one task, finish it, and then move on to the next. It may even be helpful to make a list and then check assignments off as you go.

No matter what anyone says, it’s not easy being a student. We’re forced to juggle so many responsibilities, and it’s natural to get overly stressed out.

So, take my advice and don’t forget to remind yourself that everything will be okay. These six simple steps will reduce your stress in no time.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
