Stepping Out Of The Victim Role And Into The Victor Role

Stop sitting at the gates of your hurt and past, but instead stand up and walk in the victor role with the One who is victorious.

Because of our sinful nature, we naturally have a tendency to step in the victim role. We blame others, feel sorry for ourselves, and always look at things negatively. Just look at Adam and Eve. They blamed each other. If you haven't heard the story, let me summarize it for you. Adam and Eve ended up eating from the Tree of Life which they were specifically told not to do. When they got caught, Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the servant. They blamed each other.

In order to get out of the victim role, you just have to change your view!

In 2 Kings, there is a story about lepers that were not allowed to work, so every day they made their way to the city gate to beg for food and money. During this same time, there was a really bad famine that was going on and everyone was desperately searching for something to eat. One day, the lepers asked each other "Why are we sitting here until we die?"

So let me ask you this. Why are you still sitting here? A famous author, Christine Caine says this in her book Unashamed, "When you choose to focus more on what Jesus has done for you than what others have done or said to you ,you will have the faith to stand up and start moving forward. Remaining focused on your past pain, hurt, or offense will ensure you stay seated at the gate of your misery, stuck in an endless cycle of obsessive rumination."

Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds."Psalm 34:18 says, "The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit."

"It is finished."His ending was our beginning. Even though you still have the scars from your past, you a still a victor. We come with our hurt, pain, rejection, and we still have scars too, but the scars are there because the wounds have healed.

In order to embrace what God has done, we have to be willing to risk walking without the limp that has become a coping mechanism.

We have to be awakened and rise up so that we can move into the story of the Victor.

We all have been brought to our knees with trials and pain, but in Him - IT IS FINISHED.

A Father's voice called His Son to rise again and now our Father is callings to rise up from our pain and desperation.

You are loved and not abandoned. You are a child from the depths risen to life. Nor more shame, no more regrets. What the enemy did to you, God healed you. He is greater than everything we've been through and has the power to put broken hearts back together, and can now free us from our past.

So stop sitting at the gates of your freedom. Stop staying in that victim role. Stand up and walk in His victory.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
