Many of the most beautiful and intriguing destinations are a trip and half, requiring travelers to cross time zones, take long flights, and drive into the night well after their normal bedtime. While traveling is undoubtedly exciting, amazing, and important, long trips can leave you needing a vacation from your vacation! Fortunately, there a several ways to improve your stamina so that you can get the most out of your trip and have full energy throughout.

1. Catch those Z's

One of the best ways to ensure that you feel vibrant on your trip is to sleep! It might be hard to catch some z's when you are trying to think about what to pack, where to stop, what to see and do, but getting a good night's rest before you head out can be just what you need. Getting good rest during your trip is also very important. It can be tempting to stay out late at the local bars and clubs, but they will be there tomorrow night too!

2. A fruity solution

A great way to boost energy is to eat tart cherries. These little snacks contain melatonin, which leads to better sleep and more energy. She adds tart cherry juice in her sparkling water to make a tasty in-flight beverage. The Blonde Abroad also mentions staying hydrated as a key factor in keeping your energy up on a long trip. Dr. Emma Derbyshire states that no matter where you are traveling, hydration is very important, though it may be the farthest thing from your mind. Taking P5P supplements, or pyridoxal 5 phosphate, which is a form of vitamin B6 that is easily utilized by your body, can also promote healing in the body during the stresses of travel.

3. Make healthy choices

One of the best parts about traveling to a new place whether around the world or in a new state is sampling the local foods and delicacies. However, while it is important to get the full cultural experience, things like fried foods, sugary treats, and heavily processed items can really take a toll on your energy reserves.

A few ways to ensure that there is no fear of missing out is to share food. If you are traveling with family or close friends, sharing over-sized or super rich bites can be a great way to sample without entering a food coma. If you do indulge, be sure to chase it down with lots of fresh water. Making healthy choices on the road can be easy by planning ahead and packing nutrient rich but filling snacks such as dried cherries, fruit, nuts, seeds, and popcorn. This will save time and money, as well as providing you with a quick and healthy pick-me-up.

4. Stay fresh and beautiful!

Have a daily hygiene routine. Face wipes can be great for long car rides when the comfort of a hot shower is still miles away. It is a good idea to keep all of your essentials in one easily accessible place. Things like deodorant, perfume, hairbrushes, and travel size toothbrushes are lifesavers on long trips, especially during the sticky summer months.

Morning showers are also a great way to get a jolt of energy before the first sip of coffee ever hits your lips. Feeling clean and fresh not only allows you to feel energized, but it can also help you sleep better.

Eating right, staying clean, and resting well can all greatly improve the quality of your long journey, and allow you to get the most out of any adventure you decide to take on!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
