I know everyone, including myself, LOVES going on vacation but realistically they are hard to afford every other week like we would want. I like to sometimes pretend I am on vacation even while am staying at home which is why I call it a STAYcation. You do so many things while at home or around your hometown without actually spending the hundreds or thousands of dollars to go on a bigger vacation.

1. Go hiking

I think hiking or walking around a nature preserve is pretty cool, and don't forget FREE! Find some nature around you, put your walking shoes on, pack a lunch and get hiking! It is also good for exercise too.

2. Read a new book

If it is a rainy day but you're still feeling a vacation, maybe run a bath, put some candles around it and whip out your new book! I would recommend a series just so your vacation is a little longer of course. Enjoy your at home spa and read away!

3. Catch some rays at home

Grab your cutest bathing suit, a towel and your phone for some selfies and head to your front/back yard for some tanning time! If you have a local pool that would be even better, and you could get your vacation tan for a very low or free price.

4. Invite your girlfriends over

Call up all of your closest girl friends and have a huge slumber party! You can drink wine (if you are of age, of course), eat some unhealthy food, and watch romantic movies like "The Notebook" wishing you were in love with Ryan Gosling and enjoy your girls!

5. Throw a big barbecue

Go buy some hot dogs, hamburgers, and ribs and have a huge barbecue with your friends! I know everyone loves some good food and a lot of dancing with their friends so get to it!

6. Do some at home facials

I know the internet has some amazing at home facials you can make with some everyday kitchen ingredients so whip one up! Not only are you saving money on an expensive facial, but you are exfoliating your face. You might as well add some sliced cucumbers to your eyes while you're at it.

7. Have a movie marathon

I know my favorite movies to lay down and watch are the "Harry Potter" movies. I know it takes like 34 days to watch all of them all the way through, but they are so addicting. Find your favorite movie series and start binge watching!

8. Go camping

There is nothing better than s'mores and campfire songs! Get your sleeping bag, blankets, and pillows and set your campsite up and enjoy! If you want to make it even better, tell some scary stories to scare your friends.

9. Do some yoga

When you are stressed out, the best way to relieve that is by relaxing and the best way to relax is by yoga! Yoga helps you stretch and helps you with your breathing which can altogether calm you down. If you don't know any yoga poses, look up some YouTube videos and BAM you have yoga.

10. Board game tournament

If you want to have an all-day tournament, I suggest Monopoly. Other than that, you can play a bunch of board games, tally up the winners for each game, and whoever wins the most games wins the whole tournament! To make it more interesting you can even make bets.

11. Have a picnic

Put together a few snacks and sandwiches and some drinks and head to the park with your family and friends for a nice outside dinner! Bring a blanket and some bug spray too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
