Making it through the last few weeks of the semester before the paradise of summer break can be one of the greatest challenges of school years. From midterms to finals, from walks to class drenched in spring showers, finding the motivation to keep up good attendance and make the grades you want is getting near impossible.

So, without further ado, here's a few pieces of advice from some great movies to help you finish these last few weeks strong!

1. Get rid of toxins and distractions.

Focus, even just for a little while, on the work that you need to do, no distractions, and no toxicity.

2. Rely on your friends.

Like this famous movie quote from "Casablanca," it's OK to ask for a little help. Even if that help comes from enjoying time with your friends and commiserating together. A healthy dose of camaraderie can help anyone through a difficult time.

3. Seek help from your professor.

"The Godfather," though!

4. Take a break!

As counterintuitive as it might sound, it's better for you to take a break every once in a while and just dance, like Kevin Bacon, so eloquently said in the classic "Footloose." Once you've had some time to refresh, you'll find that your study time eventually is more effective and may have a better payout.

5. Create a killer playlist.

When all else fails, all you need is a few of your go-to, killer tracks to get you pumped up for those late nights of studying!

6. Believe in yourself.

Force yourself to do it! Be your own Yoda and do your best!

7. Treat yourself.

It's OK once in a while to reward yourself for all the hard work you've been doing. Whether it's going shopping or cheating a little on your diet, you deserve to cut yourself a break!

8. Clean.

I always think that when my space is decluttered, I'm more efficient. By clearing out all of the superfluous mess, I feel better and I study much more. But cleaning doesn't always have to be a chore: enjoy it, just like Mrs. Doubtfire!

9. Know that it isn't permanent.

10. Take time to laugh.

A good laugh can cure anything! Make sure you take some time to do that this finals season!

* * *

These are just a few pieces of advice to make your finals week a little easier. Most importantly, do the work, and the results will follow! And if nothing else, just look forward to this epic movie marathon from the choices here that you can enjoy after your studying is over!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
