5 Ways To Make Your Mornings More Productive Than They've Been All Semester

Especially as a college student, having a productive day is something that we all need and strive for, with our daily workload and extracurricular activities. As a college student myself, I have learned some techniques and skills to start off my day to make it as productive as possible.

1. Get into a routine of things

To start off my morning, I like to have a morning routine. Whether it is a simple 5 step routine from putting off my alarm clock to brushing my teeth or a 10 step routine, getting in a habit of having a routine makes your day start off as productive. Having a routine will make your mornings a lot easier, as every activity will gradually become a habit.

2. Wake up early in the morning

Having a productive day means to get the most out of your day, whether it be work or study. In order to do this, you have to start your morning early. 7 am or 8 am would be an ideal time to wake up and start your morning. Clearing your mind early in the morning will help you prepare for the day coming up.

3. Make your bed

As soon as you wake up and get off your bed, you should make your bed. Having made your bed is one task that you already completed and it has only been a couple of minutes of being up. Feeling the little satisfaction and feeling of completion makes completing work and daily tasks a lot easier. It can be difficult to be productive right away in the morning, but a small task such as having your bed made makes others seem a whole lot easier.

4. Make a to-do list

What I do every day makes a to-do list of everything I need to work on and study to meetings or hangouts with friends. This list makes everything more organized and planned out instead of stressing and thinking of what I forgot to do in the middle or end of the day. Also, the action of completing and crossing something off on your to-do list just makes your day even more productive. As a college student with many deadlines, a to-do list is extremely helpful.

5. Eat a healthy breakfast

Lastly, always eat a healthy breakfast. There are a lot of brain foods that can stimulate your brain into waking up and doing something productive. Drinking either a coffee to wake you up or just some hot lemon water is good because it gets your body awake and running to prepare for the day ahead. Being energized is a very important part of being productive all throughout the day.

Overall, there are many other activities that can make your day start off as productive. These are just some of my own advice and activities that I do that makes my day productive from the morning to night. Just follow these tasks and make it a habit, and every day will be productive.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
