Whether it took you two hours to get out of bed in the morning, or you were productive and cleaned your room, a celebration is necessary. I'm not saying to go out and get crazy, but reward yourself for tiny victories.
Here's why.
Truth be told, life is damn hard. Some days, I debate not leaving my bed. Some days I cry five times, and most days, I wonder when things will ever get better. Life isn't made to be easy, and every day is a battle.
With that being said, don't forget to slow down and remember you are a fighter. Each day, you wake up and choose to show the world your smile is an amazing accomplishment. I know what it's like to feel as if you have no purpose, but I promise you, you'll never find your one true calling by laying in bed all day.
Get up, take a shower, and pour yourself a cup of coffee. Put on an outfit you feel confident in; maybe it's sweats, or maybe it's nice work clothes. It doesn't matter. Just put your feet on the floor and remember that, that alone is a gift.
So, now you tackle the day. You smile at strangers and ace the test you studied all week for. Maybe you had a really good day at work, or someone called you beautiful. Or maybe you made someone else's day.
Be present.
Turn off the radio and listen to your thoughts for 30 seconds. Stand outside and let the sun radiate onto your delicate skin. Honor where you are right now in your life, know how far you've come, and how you can improve.
Every day is a gift. You need to make the most of it. Do the dishes, go on a walk, paint your nails, or read a book. You don't have to move mountains every day in order to feel like you were successful.
Those little things each day add up. Maybe all they add up to is a happier you, and that is more than enough.
So, when everyone around you is bragging about their promotion, fancy new clothes, or sports car, I want you to remember you work damn hard, too.
If you're happy with yourself and can go to bed every night with a smile on your face, but still wake up hungry; you are exactly where you're supposed to be.
Live in this moment. Breathe in the simplicity of having the chance to be here. Celebrate yourself. You deserve it. Because if you don't love yourself, or have confidence in yourself, you'll never live the life you want.
