Yes, We SHOULD Start Celebrating Christmas Before Thanksgiving

'Tis (already) the szn!

I already know that the headline of this article in itself is controversial. However, this is a topic that I, along with many others, feel passionate about. So here goes five reasons to start celebrating Christmas NOW:

1. The music

It’s no secret that Christmas music is some of the most lit music around. Mariah Carey’s classic “All I Want for Christmas is You” is an absolute BOP that could (and really should) be played year-round.

However, there is just something extra ~special~ about listening to it immediately after Halloweekend ends. I think we can all agree that Christmas music puts everyone in a fantastic mood, so why wait to start listening to it?

2. The food

Okay, so I know that all of you reading love food and Christmas food is no exception to this. With the beginning of the holiday season comes the re-introduction of some of the best seasonal treats, such as frozen grocery store sugar cookies with Santa’s and Christmas trees on them, gingerbread, and candy canes.

Not to mention, eggnog and mulled wine (providing you are of age, obviously) are wonderful to go along with said snacks. Ugh, my mouth is watering just thinking about these things.

3. An escape

College and life are stressful, I get it. Everyone needs an escape from work, school, and stres. Christmas allows us to forget these things and remind us of more important things in life.

4. The movies

If you’re anything like me, you love Christmas movies more than anything in the world. Elf and Home Alone are classics for a reason and there is nothing better than a cheesy Hallmark movie. I will take any excuse to start watching these movies as soon as I can.

5. A reason to celebrate

The world is a pretty messed up place. It seems that every day, something new and bad happens somewhere. Christmas is a joyous holiday that reminds us that we have so much to be happy and thankful for, no matter how messed up things in the real world are.

This is the biggest reason to start celebrating early, IMO. Anyway, hope you all enjoy the longer szn!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
