Why You Should Start a Business in Philadelphia

Philadelphians are some of the most creative and hardworking people in the nation, and they love to support local businesses. Small business owners can find an enthusiastic audience of consumers, a wealth of resources and strong support from City government.

Starting a business is not easy in Philadelphia

If you’re thinking of starting a business in Philadelphia, congratulations! It’s one of the best cities for small businesses. But if you’re like most people, you don’t have a ton of business experience. In fact, many people who start businesses don’t even have any business experience at all.

Tons of people have opened successful businesses without formal business training. The important thing is to understand what things are going to be important for your business and to get started on doing them well.

Here are five tips for getting started with your new business:

1. Get a good accountant

2. Get an office space that is big enough and appropriate for your needs

3. Keep some cash on hand on a regular basis

4. Create a marketing plan

5. Start networking with other entrepreneurs so you can share knowledge and opportunities

There are plenty of reasons to start your business in Philadelphia. The city is home to more than 1,000 businesses that are less than three years old, and the Philadelphia Business Journal cited its affordability as one of its biggest advantages. More than half of the area's residents have at least a bachelor's degree, and there's a relatively low cost of living compared to other major cities. The city is also home to all types of job opportunities, from healthcare and education to financial services and technology.

Expertise in the region

If you're looking for a place where you can find skilled labor, look no further than Philadelphia. In addition to having one of the best educated populations in the country, there are also more than 30 colleges and universities in the area that churn out graduates with degrees in engineering and other highly technical fields every year.

The proximity to New York City also works in Philadelphia's favor. Not only is it easy for New Yorkers to take a trip down south without breaking the bank, but Philadelphia is also home to more Fortune 500 companies per capita than any other metropolitan area on the East Coast.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
