6 Reasons To Stand With Planned Parenthood
Lindsay Messina

Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization that provides reproductive care and education in communities all over the United States of America and globally. Planned Parenthood is an extremely controversial organization and gets an extremely unfair reputation of being evil.

I wanted to write this article to advocate for this organization because I have seen the amazing things it has done for people. If you want to know why I stand with Planned Parenthood, and why you should too, keep on reading.

I stand with Planned Parenthood because they are NOT an abortion factory.

They do offer the utilities to terminate a pregnancy, but planned parenthood is so much MORE than that. They provide cancer screenings, emergency contraception, LGBTQIA+ services, men's health services, counseling, STD screening, general patient care, birth control, and SO much more. When you advocate to defund planned parenthood, you are advocating to defund reliable patient care for communities all over.

I stand with Planned Parenthood because I am pro-choice.

@plannedparenthood on instagram.com

Pro-choice does NOT mean pro-abortion. I personally do not think I would ever get an abortion, but I support a women's right to CHOOSE. Planned Parenthood is a safe environment where women can make informed decisions on what to do with their bodies. It is their body, therefore, it is THEIR choice.

I stand with Planned Parenthood because they CARE about their patients.

They educate patients about sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy options, and general sexual and reproductive health. They offer information on what to do if you suffer from depression, substance abuse, hypertension, and diabetes.

I stand with Planned Parenthood because I support vaccinations.

@plannedparenthood on instagram.com

Planned Parenthood offers vaccinations such as the influenza shot and expresses the importance of vaccines in every person.

I stand with Planned Parenthood because they need our support.

@plannedparenthood on instagram.com

So many people are giving out misinformation on planned parenthood that puts the organization at risk of being defunded. By standing with Planned Parenthood, volunteering, and educating the public, we can help make a difference.

I stand with Planned Parenthood because of personal experience.

@plannedparenthood on instagram.com

You do not get to judge a place that you have not experienced. When I was 18 years old, I found out by going to a Planned Parenthood that I had suffered from a miscarriage. I had no idea I was even pregnant. I was alone. I was scared. But after walking into the doors of my local Planned Parenthood, I was greeted warmly and treated with respect. I felt safe. I didn't feel alone. I want every woman who feels scared to know that there is help out there. There are people who care.

I support Planned Parenthood, and I am not ashamed to admit it.

I stand with Planned Parenthood, and you should too.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
