Something terrible happened on Sunday, February 4, 2018. The New England Patriots could not beat the Philadelphia Eagles. That sentence was tough to type and admit. All of the Pats fans (including me) are going through the stages of loss right now. Give us time to grieve about this dreadful game. We will bounce back and be even more "annoying" for this upcoming season. If you see us out on the streets, Pats Nation is going through the stages of losing the Super Bowl.
Stage 1: Shock
You have no words. No thought. You don’t even know if you’re breathing. All you can do is stare at the television aimlessly.
Stage 2: Denial
You cannot believe what happened. You’re thinking, “There is NO way we lost. This isn’t real life. This is all fake.” You’ll go back and forth with this stage for a couple of days, or even years.
Stage 3: Anger
Basically the same feeling and thought as Stage 2, but with more of an explosion of frustration.Stage 4: Depression
You don’t want to continue with life, basically. You see no light at the end of the tunnel. You can’t even wear your team’s apparel because it brings back the heartache.
Stage 5: Bargaining
You are acknowledging the fact that your team lost and that there is nothing you can do about it. This stage will be hard for you to admit at first, but you will get there!
(I'm not at this stage yet).
Stage 6: Acceptance
You are accepting the fact of the loss and you are finally moving on.
Stage 7: Hopeful
You are hopeful that your team will go as far again in the upcoming season, because the regular season starts in 7 months.
The Pats Nation has 7 months to cope with this loss. Bring on the shit talk about losing, about how Tom likes Uggs, and etc. We can take it!
Other than that, congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles on your win. The city deserves the Super Bowl ring. They outplayed the Patriots for sure, and kept their eyes on the prize. The Eagles earned the right to be Super Bowl Champs.
