Yes, University of Minnesota's St. Paul campus is a bit of a hike to get to, but in my opinion, it's well worth it. The campus is highly underrated and under-appreciated by many students around the U. St. Paul has a lot to offer besides being a home for CFANS students. I highly recommend taking at least one class on St. Paul's campus during your college career and here's why:
1. It's heaven for dog lovers
St. Paul is the home of the veterinary school, which means dogs can be found around campus often. Many professors take their dog to work with them and the vet school treats many dogs as patients. If you're a dog love like myself, your day will likely be made as you walk around campus.
2. You can SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM! (and other foods)
The Department of Food Science and Nutrition are the people to thank for supplying loads and loads of delicious ice cream flavors available to purchase. Along with ice cream, they also sell various kinds of cheese, frozen yogurt and different meats. You could do some grocery shopping while supporting your fellow students and their studies; It's basically a win-win situation.
3. It's beautiful
Seriously, St. Paul campus is gorgeous, which is to be expected since it's the home of Agriculture students. From the various gardens around campus to the big park across from the student center, there are plenty of beautiful scenes to take in while wandering around St. Paul campus.
4. It's quiet and peaceful
If you need a break from that busy city life, St. Paul campus is perfect for you to relax. It has a very rural feeling to it and you can barely tell that the city is just minutes away.
5. There are wonderful spaces to study
You can find some pretty great study spaces, both inside and outside. In my experience, the libraries and study spaces tend to be less crowded compared to east bank. And if the weather is still nice, studying outside in St. Paul is perfect because it's quieter, with less people walking around and less noisy city traffic.
6. The student center is less crowded
And therefore, might have something in stock that the Coffman bookstore does not. The St. Paul bookstore is much smaller in comparison, but generally, less people shop there so you might have better luck!
