Spring break comes every year. And every year I'm too broke to go south, north, or even west. The farthest I've gone while on spring break for a friend's trip is to my living room for a group FaceTime call. Not every vacation has to be lavish and spontaneous, taking hundreds to thousands from your savings account to spend on a week of wet t-shirt contests and booze. Instead, take some time and reflect on yourself while relaxing at home.
The perfect package for a relaxing spring break consists of three things. A good book, a good bath, and some alone time. After a whole semester of late-night coffee runs, downing energy drinks, and barely getting six hours of sleep it's time for you to take some time and not think about a single class for at least seven days.
The days of spending money like it means nothing is what this generation lives for. Designer bags and name brand are the things that bring up social status so it makes sense that college students are saving their money to spend it a week with people they barely know doing things they will regret in a few weeks. Taking spring break to reflect on your own self is a monumental thing that very few get to take advantage of. If you don't work, see your family. If you do work, work hard and then relax harder.
Sleeping in might get boring but with only seven weeks until the school year is over it's not common to begin to stress out. But if you take the time to relax and find inner peace before your desk is once again hectic with papers, this one week can be that break that you need. Buy that bubble bath, listen to that podcast and spend the next week feeling like nothing can bring you down. Because even though you only get a week, you can still take the time to make this the best stay-cation of your college career.
