Your Spring Break Spent At Home, As Told By Leslie Knope

It's like a fake break, but a break nonetheless!

There is a wide range of activities you can partake in during spring break. Some may choose to go somewhere fun and exotic, others may choose to explore a cool city, while still others choose to save money and just go home for spring break. But what do we really do when we go home? We sleep, of course.

In between classes, having a social life, and exercising, we hardly have any time to sleep while we are at school. So when coming home from college for even a singular week, we are about to catch up on all the sleep.

Another thing about college life is that we eat crappy dining hall food every day. For every single meal. For eight to nine months of the year. When we come home, you bet we are going to feast on all of our favorite foods we have missed out on (almost more than Leslie is feasting on her waffles). We will take one week of home cooked meals and real food any day!

Getting a haircut is also a must-happen activity during spring break. Personally, I never get a haircut at school because it's expensive and I just don't have time. But also, when at home for break, your parents usually pay for the haircut so that's an added bonus! We can't help but feel like Leslie after it's cut!

When going back home, it's time to deal with your siblings again. In college, you just live with one other person. However, when you go back home, it's back to having the whole fam home! When my brothers burst into my room fighting while I'm taking a glorious nap, this is the response I usually give them.

This one has been directed at my cat the entirety of break! While at school, I am definitely cat-deprived. So when I come home, my cat gets showered with hugs and kisses. He also follows me around the house and sleeps at my feet every night. He's secretly the real reason I come home for spring break (sorry mom and dad).

When you're under their roof, parents usually make you eat healthy foods. However, this is just not what we are used to at school! We often have the same reaction as Leslie when we are told we should eat a salad instead of that scoop of ice cream. Yikes.

Spring break is at such an awkward time. Like, you're ready to go home for a break but you're also not used to not being with all of your closest friends every day. You often find yourself exchanging these texts with your friends when all of you go home for break. "It will be okay, I promise. I'll literally see you in 5 days."

The time spent at home during spring break is about the least hectic that life is going to be until you go home for the summer in May (or April if your school is lucky and gets out that early). Taking time to soak it all in is definitely something that is done during the break! Take it in now, because come next Monday, the hectic college life begins again!

Being home from college for a week is an amazing yet weird time in our young adult lives. It's like a fake break in which we still have homework to do, but we just neglect the work because we're at home. Enjoy the time you have at home with your family because you don't get much of that time anymore!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
