There are times while studying the Italian Renaissance that you come across artwork that you realize is relatable to your modern-day college life. the realization that much hasn't changed in the way of dealing with things is hilariously painful, in all the right ways, and the recognition that your inner feelings are reflected on the faces of people portrayed hundreds of years ago is almost as funny as some of these artworks.

1. When you go home for Spring Break and your mom nurses you back to normal health after the midterm season.

Everyone knows what I'm talking about. When you haven't slept for three straight days, you've drunk enough coffee to kill a bull and your body starts up with a ceaseless tremor, you know that you've hit midterm season. But good news! Spring Break is right around the corner and mom will surely give you all the snacks and naps that will get you feeling like a human being again.

2. When you see the first plate of homemade food as a change from the dining hall.

This little beauty is by Giuseppe Arcimboldo and clearly, he understood what it means to go home for Spring Break. Having a kitchen 10 feet away from you makes it all the harder to not maintain a constant stream of food, whereas normally you have to walk 10 minutes to get a cup of coffee and some pineapple.

3. Realizing that the sass you get away with at school and with friends isn't going to fly when you go back home.

Realizing that it isn't your mouth that needs deliverance, it's your eyes, can make all the difference when going home for break. Remeber to dial back the normal level of truck-driver cussing and just some friendly advice, it might help to limit the back-talk. Maybe.

4. When you can finally stop dressing like a homeless person and show off your new makeup and outfit.

Wearing the same four outfits every week in different combinations doesn't count. I'm talking about that one outfit you have been dying to wear but it is either too fancy for class or it's simply just the fact that there need to be 5 more hours in the day. Either way, shed those sweatpants and hoodie and show off that new highlighter!

5. When you realize that you have conquered your inner fear, but that inner fear was of yourself and everything you regret doing over break.

Finally conquering a fear can be a great thing, except when it leads to embarrassing photos being posted from a club down in Miami from over break. So be warned, careful what you wish for. You can just see the look of regret on his face.

6. The last home-cooked meal before you go back to school looks something like this...

A feast is all that will be suitable for the return trip back to college and the reality that there are still two more months of school. But fear not, this feast will send you packing with leftovers for at least the first few days return to reality.

7. And finally, the moment you realize that in a week's time, you get to go back and continue drudging on until the end of the year.

O, Mona Lisa, you understand the sly happiness and coy sadness that college students experience after their week of spring paradise. Once again you return to independent adulthood but are also in for another 8 weeks of hellish papers, exams and homework assignments. I guess you find the silver lining?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
