It's finally time to destress and party hard because we're all finally finished with midterms. Over 1.5 million students across the country travel for spring break. Whether you are going to Panama City Beach, Miami, Cancun, or anywhere else, here are some do's and don'ts of spring break '16:
DO:
Take tons of pictures! Go up to that random cute guy or girl from another school across the country and take a picture together! Take tons of selfies with your friends. It's important to document this time in our lives so we can look back on it and laugh. It's also fun to brag about your destination of choice.
DON'T:
But before posting them on social media, make sure you remember who can see your pictures. Future employers occasionally browse through employee's pictures. Also, we all have that one aunt or uncle who is more technologically savvy so remember what members of your family follow you. Make sure your pics are tasteful!
DO:
Pack lightly! This is really hard for girls, especially because we love to have outfit choices. Try and think ahead and plan out each outfit for the events. No one wants to pay an extra $50 at the airport, or be the girl whose suitcase takes up the most room in the car.
DO:
Meet new people! Spring break is a great time to meet other students from colleges and universities across the country.
DON'T:
Party too hard. Most likely, you are in a brand new environment with a large amount of people you do not know. If you insist on drinking, make sure a friend or friends in the group are staying sober and are okay with taking care of you.
DO:
Wear sunscreen. I beg you. A wide misconception in the African American community is that we do not need sunscreen, but we do. African Americans can still contract skin cancer and it is better to be safe than sorry.
DON'T:
Do not update your twitter or Facebook status every five seconds or tag your location anywhere. You never know who follows you or is creeping on you for the day. Be safe about what you post and when you post it.
DO:
Have fun! Get a tan. Make memories with your friends. Adulthood is right around the corner so make sure you enjoy these last few years of your undergraduate career!
