It Is So Important To Spread Positivity In The World

This especially needed on social media!

As the next generation of leaders, we all try to stay informed about what is going on in the world. We watch the news, keep tabs on social media, share petitions, go to protests and rallies or call our senators. We do a lot of things to try to make the world a better place.

We share things verbally, but we also end up sharing things on social media, like Facebook. Sometimes when I post news that is positive and happy people question: "This is news?" "Why aren't you talking about that one political thing that is super important?"

Well, let me tell you that there is nothing wrong with stories that are happy, because in a world with all sorts of bad things going on, it is nice to see that there is still hope for humanity.

Whenever I am on social media, I usually like to spread positivity. I will occasionally discuss or share a news piece. Most of the stories I share are people with disabilities doing amazing things, like stories of hope or awareness, and, yes, cute animals. I do post occasionally when something bad happens when it is relevant, but one reason I am hesitant to share is that I don't want my comments to be all about politics; I am usually the kind of person who stays neutral when it comes to that kind of stuff.

We need positive news stories to keep people's spirits up. We need them to see there is hope and a reason for them to be happy because it might even give them more motivation to keep on doing what they do.

It doesn't just have to be on social media either. You can spread positivity everywhere you go. Volunteer, say "hi" to people or smile, because that one little thing can make all of the difference in not just the world, but also in others' lives.

When you all share things about current events, keep positivity in mind. We need to work on making social media a place where it is not flooded with angry political posts, with hate or just with plain negativity. You can be angry about a certain event and still share something happy in the process, but the key is to not overshare because it can also overshadow the good things going on in the world.

Now go out there and start spreading positivity!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
