Spotify

You don’t want to get me started on how much I love Spotify because I could talk for hours. I think the platform has revolutionized the way we consume music and will be around for quite some time. If you’re an avid listener on Spotify like I am, you probably look forward to seeing your top songs bundled nicely in the annual “Wrapped” playlist.

At the end of each year, a playlist is curated for each individual listener based on the trend of their listening habits. Listening to this playlist is like time traveling. It allows you to relive each of the phases you went through during the course of the year, the highs and the lows. When I listen to my “Wrapped” playlist I reminisce on summer drives, time spent with friends and all of the stand out moments in 2017.

This year, Spotify stepped it up a notch and included a full report of statistics regarding your recent musical preferences. A person’s taste in music says a lot about them and their top songs of 2017 say a lot about their year. Take a look at your “2017 Wrapped” report to see what yours says about you:

You listened to a ton of different genres.
If you listened to a wide variety of genres this year, you’re generally an open-minded person. You like to try new things and exploring new facets of music is just one way to do that. If you only listened to a few new genres, try branching out!

Your playlist has multiple covers.
A cover is a fresh twist on a popular classic. If you listened to covers this year, you value creativity and love when artists can make something their own.

A musical soundtrack dominated your 2017.
For me, it was La La Land and the composer of the film score, Justin Hurwitz, was my top artist. If you also had a playlist full of Oscar worthy tunes, you love when music tells a story. You believe the best tracks have lyrics, melodies and baselines that paint a picture in your mind.

You killed it with the throwbacks this year.
For you, listening to music is a nostalgic experience. You often find that certain songs take you back to the days of yesteryear.

You saw some of your top artists in concert.
You’re a true fan. Going to concerts takes money, time and planning. If the artists that made your Wrapped list also made your concert priority list, you’re a dedicated listener.

You have a lot of overlap from your 2016 playlist.
You know what you like. If your 2017 playlist is nearly identical to last year’s you’re the kind of person that knows what you enjoy and sticks to it. If you feel like you’re stuck in a musical rut, Spotify’s “Discover” feature is a godsend for uncovering new jams.

You predicted all the Grammy nominations.
If you’re playlist is full of Grammy nominated tracks and artists, let’s face it… You have bomb taste and you’re totally into the music scene.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
