Spontaneous Summer

You'll look back and smile because you made the most of your summer.

Summer can either be really boring or a lot of fun – it is what you make of it. You can choose to Netflix and chill all day and troll social media. I’ll let you in on a little secret: Netflix and social media aren’t going anywhere, but summer only comes once a year.

These three months are a break for you to work less and do more, to get out of your normal, boring routine. Do something you have never done before. Go to free yoga in the park every Tuesday night, even if you can’t touch your toes. Try slack lining or stand up paddle boarding, even if you think your balance sucks. You can literally do anything you want. You’ll never know if you’re good or bad at it unless you try, and you can always get better with a little bit of practice.

The summer heat is 10 times better than the winter cold, so instead of sitting on your couch staring out the window, make sure to spend some time outside and appreciate the earth. Whether you are laying in a hammock taking a nap between the trees with the cool breeze on you, or you are skipping rocks by the creek, appreciate the world and the weather around you.

Don’t be afraid to book a ticket to a place you’ve never been and just go. Don’t be afraid to decide you are going to go somewhere, and then pack up and leave the next day. You are young, and you should be having fun doing the things you want to do. Before you know it, you will have responsibilities that are going to hold you back from doing all of these things. But, for now, you are young, the weather is hot and the future is bright. You will look back on all of these things and smile because it was summer you decided to make the most of it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
