Most of us can agree that our mom rules every day of the year. They put our band aids on our fingers when we were little tots, and now they help us in the world of adulting. We used to dodge all of their golden advice in our teenage years when it came to dating, our future, and even what was for dinner. Now, we call her knowing she'll have the magic solution.

With only one day of the year dedicated to her, the pressure is on to make it the best day for her. Remember when she brought you the that theme park, helped you pay for college, and even just drove you to your friends house? Now, it's your turn to take charge and do something extra special for her. Get creative and plan a day you know she'll love! Here are 10 ideas to get you started:

1. Brunch

Treat your mom to a great meal and endless mimosas. Life is busy, so what better time to relax and catch up!

2. Hiking

If your mom likes to be active, show her the sights and take her on adventure. Get ready for an exciting journey and a perfect bonding experience.

3. Movies

If your mom is too busy for TV, catching a movie can be a great stress relief. Make it even more luxurious by going to a dine-in theater.

4. NYC

5. Lazy Day

Sometimes a lazy day is an amazing day. If you're constantly on the go, adding simplicity can do the trick! Without distractions, it'll be a day all about her.

6. Spa

Pamper your mom with a glamorous day. Get her a massage, her hair done, and even nails! Even though she's beautiful all the time, a picker-upper is always rejuvenating.

7. Yoga

Find your inner zen together and get on the same spiritual path. If your mom has never tried yoga, it can be the best gift ever.

8. Beach

If you live near a shore, take advantage! Besides the sand and water, there's always so much excitement at the beach, especially if there's a board walk!

9. Wine Tasting

Treat your mom to the finest wine, cheese, and grapes at a tasting.

10. Concert

If you know that her favorite band is in town or that she's had her eyes on that Broadway show, treat her to the best gift out there: music! Even if it's not on the day of Mother's Day, she'll love it regardless. Bonus points if you surprise her!

Make it a day to remember!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
