I need to save money. Doesn't everyone? But I actually do need to save money because I'm renting a car for my next semester when I study in Los Angeles. However, I'm quickly finding out that I cannot save money to save my life. I just have this compulsive need to shop and I honestly cannot tell you why.
Here are some of the things I've been resisting this summer.
1. Trying not to buy food
You have food at home that is perfectly good. In fact, your mom just went food shopping the other day so the pantry is stocked to the brim with food. So why don't you want to eat any of it and instead opt for Thai food with your friends? YOU DON'T KNOW BUT YOU NEED THAI FOOD TO LIVE.
2. Looking at prices and saying 'HA, Nope!'...
You want to buy one of everything in American Eagle, but it's so damn expensive. Who charges $35 for a t-shirt?! You sadly put it back, remembering what it looks like so you can buy it after Christmas when you have money to spend.
3. ...But also you want to treat yo' self
You don't want to go the whole summer without treating yourself a little bit! I know there are days where work has been so bad that I want to buy myself an ice cream...but ice cream is $4. I could use that $4 for something else...Like paying for a gallon of gas for a car.
4. Spending no money on vacations
There's nothing worse than going on a beach vacation with your friends and not being able to splurge. But telling your friends that you're on a budget and can't spend money makes everything awkward.
5. Everything about online shopping
If you've somehow kept money in your bank account, all of those techniques go out of the window when you begin to online shop.
I wish you the best of luck in your futile efforts to save money!
