A PSA From Netflix's Hottest New Character, Joe

We can make ourselves look so perfect on the internet. Social media is a realm for being whoever you want to be. Here's why that's a problem as told by Joe from the new Netflix series, "You." Go on, let him pick your brain.

You clicked on this page to find out why I could possibly be issuing a PSA, didn't you? You clicked on this page because somewhere deep inside of you...there's empathy for me, isn't there? Why? Why do you emphasize with me?

Now, you're probably digging deep into your soul right now trying to figure out why I'm right, aren't you? You won't find anything besides excuses, trust me.

Did you really think I was completely crazy and psychotic the whole time? Probably not, you definitely thought about what lengths you've gone during the chase...or even in your relationship. You related to me sometimes, even if it was just a little bit, didn't you? Other times, you wondered how I was even getting away with the things I was doing.

Who am I to you? Who do I remind you of? Dig deep.

Look at the name on the Instagram page you checked "briefly to see how they're doing" last night.

But, again, who am I? What do I represent to you? Pain? Suffering? Enlightenment? A disguise? Fear? Anything.

Really think about. Think about the person whose twitter favorites you scrolled through a week ago looking for answers.

Well, I will reveal to you exactly what I am in your mundane life. I am the power to know. I am the amount of ease that the new technological world allows.

Think about this. You can find almost anything you want about a person online, can't you? A quick Google search of their name and you already have the basic facts without clicking on a single link. Their Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook all reveal parts of them that you may not even be looking for. But, they put it out there anyway.

This might sound a little stalker-esque, but I assure you, you participate in this "people search" every day as you browse your social media. You might not be as critical or deep in your thinking as I am, but you know that you could be if you really wanted to. Why? As I said, because all the information you could ever want is right there, usually at your fingertips, you just have to find it.

The thing is, you could find it if you really tried. But would you take it that far? Would you choose that? I guess it depends on just how hurt you are...or maybe just how curious.

In the end, what I will forever be to you is the psychotic character in "You," and my behavior is abnormal, from what I've heard. But, what I hope you store somewhere in your brain is that what you reveal to the world is what they will know and what they know can be used to their own benefit.

Watch out for brains like mine, and yourself, for that matter. Besides, we're living in one huge online network. We're all intertwined.

Disconnect yourself once in a while.

Yours Truly,

Joe

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
