It is truly the best time of the year. From family Christmas cards to ugly sweaters and Santas in every mall, each household has their favorite holiday traditions, the south especially. Here are a few of the south's most common.
1. Horse and buggy rides through the Chick-Fil-A parking lot
Enough said.
2. Visiting tons of Christmas tree farms
Grab the four-wheeler and pick out a tree.
3. Cutting down your own Christmas tree in the woods
The tree farm didn't have the perfect one, so you find one yourself.
4. Your tree consists of at least one "southern" item
Cowboy boots, deer heads, and flannel ornaments fill the tree. Sometimes, shotgun shells and beer cans are decorations too, depending on your home life.
5. One word - poinsettias
The favorite southern holiday decoration.
6. Jackets in the morning, shorts in the afternoon
If you live in the south you may as well bring two outfits everywhere you go. The weather is very indecisive.
7. Driving through neighborhoods to look at their lights
Maybe this isn't just a southern thing, but most of the Santas are wearing cowboy hats.
8. So. Many. Sweets.
If there's sugar in it, you can bet every household has at least two of them.
9. Christmas at the beach
After the presents are open, it's beach time!
10. Sweet potato everything
Sweet potato pie, casserole, chips, fries. Literally, everything.
11. Praying for a white Christmas
Even though you know it's going to be AT LEAST 70 degrees Christmas morning.
When the weather is warm it's hard to get into the Christmas spirit, at least there are some things we can do to help. It's the season of giving... deer meat to all your family members.
