I get it, trying to find the perfect fit for college isn't easy.
The process of killing yourself for the SAT, writing multiple essays, applying to various schools and waiting to hear back is grueling. And sometimes after all that you still don't wind up in a place where you feel at home. But if you're not doing anything to help yourself, I don't feel bad.
I have friends who have worked tirelessly to get perfect grades at their second choice schools to prepare themselves to transfer to their dream schools. I've seen other people transfer two or three times until they found the school that was perfect for them. After seeing them not settle for second best and work harder than anything to get what they wanted I can confidently say, it is achievable.
Because of this, I have ZERO sympathy for people who mope around the schools they're at, feeling stuck and complaining non-stop. Especially when you're complaining about features of the school you knew about before you enrolled, and have put up with for almost two years. If you truly hated it that much you would make a change.
I happen to currently be attending my DREAM school. Villanova is the school I had grown up visiting and thinking about throughout my whole childhood. Getting into Villanova is a day I'll never forget and being here every day still feels a little surreal to me. I understand not everyone has such an easy time finding the place where they fit, but that does NOT give them the right to trash talk my school all the time.
Call your parents, confide in a friend, write a blog, I do not care. Whatever you need to do to vent is cool with me. Just stop walking around and making everyone else uncomfortable in a place they love just because you're unhappy. It's not fair to us or you. I'm sorry you're too lazy to find a better situation for yourself, but layoff the rest of us.
