Sorority recruitment is draining, to say the least. If you are apart of Greek life, you know for damn sure that the recruitment process is 1-2 weeks of torture. Barely any time to eat, conversations that are all the exact same, and endless time preparing and learning what rush is really all about.
For me, at least, this is how recruitment went while at the same time it was one of the best two weeks ever because I was spending 24/7 with my best friends.
Aside from all the crazy busy work and minimal sleep, when going through recruitment you are in it with your best friends. Everyone is going through it together and you get closer to people you may have never talked to before. I
t is really better than any icebreaker or bonding activity because it is forcing people to be in a room together for endless hours and have no other choice but to get to know each other.
The week really brought out the best in people and showed the girls who will do anything for there sisters, but also the girls who let her sisters down by skipping events or forgetting when their parties were. Recruitment is when you gain immense respect for the girls who worked their butts off 'til 6 a.m.
Recruitment was like a big sports game. We were working together as a team to recruit 50 new girls and I think that is so cool.
People are always trying to go against girls. Girls are always jealous of other girls. But recruitment really showed that 200 girls COULD and CAN work together to make something amazing. Sorority girls are going to be the ones to prove all those people wrong who just think girls are out to get each other.
I feel so incredibly blessed to have such an amazing sisterhood where even as exhausting as recruitment was... I still had an amazing time and wouldn't be opposed to doing it again next year.
AOT my girls!!!
