A well-known week around Butler's campus is the infamous week of formal sorority recruitment: young women return from the relaxation of winter break to be immediately thrown into long days of small talk and walking through the freezing cold winter weather while donning heels and a pencil skirt. With this week coming to a close, I thought that there would be no one who could better explain the process of sorority recruitment than "The Office's" own Michael Scott.
- The week of recruitment is a blur of smiles and girl flirting that is both nerve-wracking and painfully pleasant, and sometimes you are focusing so much on not sounding ridiculous that you instead just start speaking gibberish
2. You spend all week talking about how great you are, and sometimes the bragging can get a little out of your control.
3. The long days of socializing turn you into a shell of a person, and by the time you get back to your room at night you can’t imagine saying another word to anyone ever again.4. Seeing how happy everyone is at every house you go to kind of makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a parallel universe of love and rainbows.
5. Even though it has been one of the longest weeks of your life, getting to the final day and getting mobbed by a group of your new sisters makes all the small talk worth it. You have found your people and automatically have a support system that will be with you through thick and thin, no matter what. You don’t care what people say because these awesome girls are your dysfunctional, loud, crazy new family.
It may be long and hard, but it is satisfying in the end... That's what she said.
