Behind The Scenes Of Living In The Sorority House

A lot goes into making it as glamorous and everyone tells you it is!

Behind The Scenes Of Living In The Sorority House

After only a week into living in the house, I have learned that a lot goes into making it the beautiful mansion that stands tall today. A lot of working goes into preparing the house for the new incoming members living in, and trust me it is not easy. A huge part of it is making sure that your room is the cutest one in the entire house and that is TOUGH competition. To be honest, no room can be cuter than another because everyone does such a great job. But, a lot goes into making it the best of the best.

Leading up to move in, there was a lot of preparation to make everything perfect. I mean A LOT. When you live in, you've got to coordinate and make sure your colors are matchy-matchy. It is so important to make sure that it does not look like a hot mess. I am a big fan of string lights and I had them in my dorm room for freshman year and I promise you they are hanging in my room right now! Another tip for decorating your room, making it as comfy looking as possible will make you feel as at home as possible. The goal is to be cute but cozy. If you want easy and fun decorations, when it comes to being in a sorority you get a lot of canvases and paddles and those are easy decorations that make the room have so much character.

Now for the tough stuff, living in the house means taking care of it. And that means chores...DUN DUN DUN. I know, who likes chores but sorry you will have to do them! They are not the end of the world. It is easy stuff, like picking up around the house, taking out the garbage, making sure that the bathrooms are in good condition. We are living in this house to feel like princesses and not to trash the place. You will not believe how dirty the mansion can get in such a short amount of time. Plus, with recruitment, the house has to stay in tip-top shape for our potential new fabulous members. Also, we all get fed a lot of food here so you can imagine that the garbage piles up fast and we are held responsible for taking that out. You get used to it after a while!

Luckily, we have such a great crew that we were fortunate enough to remodel our home for the new people (me) coming to live in. I am so grateful! Ya girl got some beautiful hardwood floors in her room instead of nasty carpet. We also got our rooms painted neutral colors instead of bright yellow. It really helps with matching and keeping everything cozy. When you keep the house clean and treat it with respect, you get to be rewarded with awesome things like house upgrades and that is the best because the behind the scenes of remodeling really pays off in the end. We have a beautiful home and I cannot wait to live in it for the entire school year!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
