To My Big, In Her Last Month Of College
Joey Eskenazi

Dear Big,

I just want to start off by saying I am so glad I met you. My college experience (so far) definitely wouldn’t have been the same without you. It’s crazy to think that if I didn’t join a sorority, I would have never met you. But, I am so glad I did.

When I first joined, I was afraid I wouldn’t be good enough for you, being that you already had a little. But, that did not matter to you. Thank you for going out of your way to buy me things (for the sorority and in general) and for always including me in things. I know I can always rely on you for a ride or just someone to give me a hug when I need one. I love how you are always down to do anything.

You truly have made me feel at home.

Lately, the more I talk to you, the more I realize we are so alike. We have so many things in common, including our personalities. You are a kind, loyal, and very honest person who I am so lucky to call my big. You have encouraged me to go out and do things and have shown me the best version of myself (aka my sorority name).

Over the past month, we both have been going through things that have made us hurt. But, I know at the end of the day we will always be there for each other. One of my favorite things to do is hear about your day and figure out I can turn your bad days into good ones. Thank you for always doing the same for me. I want you to know that no matter where we go in our lives, I will always be there for you. Even, if I can’t help you, I will always be there just to listen.

I feel that we should have received more time together, but I know that our relationship will continue to grow. I am looking forward to more hangouts in the future including big little dates. I hope our relationship never changes from this point forward and we still talk every day in the future. You have come to be one of my best friends. I am going to miss you so much when we no longer go to school together, but I hope you will come visit me. Good luck to you in all your endeavors in the future, Big!

I know you will do amazing things.

As for now, enjoy your last month of college. They are right when they say college goes by in the blink of an eye. This month is going to be filled with so many emotions for you, but I will be there for you every step of the way. I cannot wait for all the memories we will make this month and all the pictures we will take!

Make the best of each moment and enjoy your last ever Greek Week!

Sadly, graduation is just around the corner.

I love you.

Love,

Little

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
