Whether you are celebrating the upcoming Trump presidency or if you are upset by it, we can all use a little more positivity and hope. As a Christian, I have had to remind myself this week that God is in control and has a plan for each of us, even when it does not make any sense. If you find yourself in the same boat, this one's for you. Here's a list of nine songs to lift your spirit to remind you who is in control.

Sovereign Over Us.

My favorite is Shane and Shane's version. Here are some lyrics I find most encouraging.

"Your plans are still to prosper
You have not forgotten us
You're with us in the fire and the flame
You're faithful forever
Perfect in love
You are sovereign over us"

He is With Us - Love & The Outcome.

I had completely forgotten about this song until recently. The chorus is very uplifting - here is part of it.

"We can trust our God
He knows what He's doing
Though it might hurt now
We won't be ruined"

Constant One - Steffany Gretzinger.

"Constant One
Who is like you, God?
Your mercy's like the sun
Always rising
Over us"

You're Not Alone - Meredith Andrews.

"You're not alone, for I am here
Let me wipe away your every fear
My love, I've never left your side
I have seen you through the darkest night
And I'm the One who's loved you all your life"

Hope in Front of Me - Danny Gokey.

"There's hope in front of me
There's a light, I still see it
There's a hand still holding me
Even when I don't believe it
I might be down but I'm not dead
There's better days still up ahead
Even after all I've seen
There's hope in front of me"

Good, Good Father.

There are many versions of this song, the most well-known being Chris Tomlin's. Regardless of who you like most, the lyrics are powerful. In fact, I have a hard time picking which part of the song is most uplifting. I finally decided on the very first verse.

"I've heard a thousand stories of what they think You're like
But I've heard the tender whisper of love in the dead of night
And You tell me that You're pleased
And that I'm never alone
You're a good, good father..."

We Are - Kari Jobe.

"So wake up sleeper, lift your head
We were meant for more than this
Fight the shadows, conquer death
Make the most of the time we have left"

Eye of the Storm - Ryan Stevenson.

"In the eye of the storm, You remain in control
In the middle of the war, You guard my soul
You alone are the anchor, when my sails are torn
Your love surrounds me, in the eye of the storm"

You are Loved - Stars Go Dim.

This is another song I had a hard time finding just one piece to highlight, so I encourage you to listen to the whole thing.

"If your heart's in a thousand pieces
If you're lost and you're far from reason
Just look up know you are loved
Just look up know you are loved
When it feels like something's missing
If it hurts but you can't find healing
Just look up know you are loved
Just look up know you are loved"

My prayer is these songs bring you a similar glimmer of hope as they do for me. God has blessed us greatly and will not stop, regardless of who is President of the United States. Share your favorite encouraging/uplifting songs below!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
