If you are anything like me, one of the most stressful moments of life is when someone asks if you want to connect to the speaker. Now the pressure of pleasing many different music tastes rest solely on your shoulders. This is a huge responsibility, you could either make or break a night, and I believe that I have mastered how to deal with it. It requires digging deep into your music taste and selecting only the songs that you know no one else will enjoy. This way people realize how off your music is and they will never ask you to aux again. Here are some of my favorite songs I play to remind people to not put me in charge:
1. "Strip That Down" // Liam Payne.
I stand by the belief that this song is great for parties and getting ready to go out. The people around me did not seem to agree with me when it almost immediately got banned from every gathering.
2. "Bodak Yellow" // Cardi B.
With this song, it seems like you either love it or love to hate it. I originally started listening to it ironically because of how much everyone hated. To no one’s surprise, me and my “horrible” sense of music quickly learned every word and it went into my top favorite songs of the week.
3. "New Rules" // Dua Lipa.
I have yet to meet a teenage girl that didn’t like this song. This was an anthem among the female population when it was released. The males didn’t seem to agree with this song and I’m left to believe it was the reason my phone never seemed to connect to the speaker.
4. "Sorry Not Sorry" // Demi Lovato.
Every single word off of Demi’s new album, “Tell Me You Love Me” is a pure masterpiece. That being said, I played only this song exclusively for about two weeks before my friends decided it was time to play something else – anything else.
5. "Slow Hands" // Niall Horan.
No one can disagree that this song is written well. As one of Niall Horan’s first releases after leaving One Direction, it is living up to all expectations. There is a time and place for this song though and I have learned through trial and error that it is not for parties or when people are trying to be excited on a car ride.
6. "Shooketh" // Elijah and Christine.
This one barely counts as a song in the first place, but for some reason I can’t get past the fast beat and the clever lyrics. Towards the end of the summer this song was the reason my other friends started offering up their phones to play the music.
