To Kill a King have recently announced a new album, and I'm so excited!
You've never heard of To Kill A King, you say?
Actually, that's okay, because I had never heard of them before I saw Dan Smith from Bastille wearing one of their shirts! And I didn't even listen to them until I heard the Ralph's Balcony performance of "These Streets!"
(Here's "These Streets," in case you want to check that one out!)
I'm so glad I finally listened to them, because they are amazing! Now, I have to tell everyone to check them out!
If you want to give them a try, or if you aren't sure if you'd like them, here are seven songs that will convince you that To Kill A King is the most underrated band that everyone should listen to.
1. "Funeral"
I absolutely adore this song! It's also one of Dan Smith's favorites! In an interview once, he said, "It’s got a great chorus and such a good lyrical concept. It manages to be so sad and really uplifting at the same time." If Dan approves, then it's definitely a winner!!
2. "Choices"
Most Bastille fans know the incredible Ralph's Balcony version, but any version of this gorgeous song is amazing!
3. "Wolves"
This song is brilliant, and so catchy! Once you listen to it, you'll be singing, "Wolves will keep you warm/If you convince yourself you're one" all day!
4. "Children Who Start Fires"
This song is so beautiful and sad! And frontman Ralph Pelleymounter's voice really shines in this track!
5. "Cannibals With Cutlery"
The album version of this song is okay, but it's definitely too short. It's missing the second verse, which is the best part! Also, Dan's voice was MADE to sing with Ralph (which is why Annie Oakley Hanging needs to happen soon!)
6. "So My Friends Want to Marry"
This song is so beautiful! I am obsessed with the line "some men were born of hate, but no man was born to hate."
7. "Bloody Shirt"
This might be my favorite TKaK song! I also absolutely ADORE the Bastille remix (and I usually don't like remixes)!
