I know how easy it is for a day to pass you by, or a few days, or a few years. You blink, and it seems time has not been on your side, and you start to wonder what it is that you are doing with your life. I think what the problem is, at least for most people, is not knowing what you are working toward, or what you really want to do.
Because your job is not your dream, you are not excited to go to it. Instead it feels exhausting, and you will do whatever you can to take your mind off of it (which usually means binging whatever the newest show is). On top of this problem, are the short term entertainments that absorb all of your money. Going out to eat, buying those new pair of shoes, or investing in a new gaming system are temporary pleasure because in that moment, and for awhile, you will really enjoy it.
But do you know what these things do not do?
They do not get you any closer to figuring out what you want out of life. Staying in the same routine will yield the same results it always has. If you do not know what you want, start exploring! Take a random class in something that you think you might be interested in, do research and take quizzes or anything else you can come up with to find what will make you truly happy. Classes can be expensive, I know, but if you take it, and you don't like it, at least then you know that, and you are one step closer to finding what you really do like.
If your job is not what you dreamed it would be, and is simply how you pay your bills, start saving. Remember that every single day that you go to work, you are making more money that you can put away for something that could change your life. Every day is a step in the right direction.
Make little lists for yourself of things you should do every day, even if they are small, they will help to keep you on track, and moving towards something. If you do not want to take a class, or do not want to travel, that is okay, but do something out of your comfort zone PLEASE. That is what life is all about. It is trying new things and gaining new experiences that give you new perspectives and make you truly happy.
New things can be scary, but know you are not doing them alone. I am hoping to move across the country, on my own, to a place where I know no one. If you think that is not terrifying, you are very wrong. But it is still exciting, and will be the start of a new chapter that will bring all of its own adventures.
If you wake up every day bitter, or even indifferent about the day ahead of you, change it. Do not stand in your own way. The world is open to you, and you can have all of it as long as you are willing to work for it.
So that is my two cents. It is up to you if you take it, but I really hope you do.
