Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year…by far. What’s better than lounging around with family and friends in your pajamas all day long while eating homemade cookies, sipping on some delicious hot chocolate and binge-watching your favorite movies together?
The answer is, nothing! It’s a holiday that allows everyone to come together and spend quality time with one another. Your parents don’t have to be at work (well, hopefully, they don’t), and you don’t have the stress of studying for an exam or completing an assignment. You are simply present and engaged with your loved ones.
Two of my favorite traditions our family has for Christmas are: binge-watching romantic comedies—Something Borrowed and This Means War are some of our all-time favorites (can you tell our house is mainly composed of women?)—and simply talking with one another and telling each other funny stories.
Everybody has his or her own traditions for Christmas. Some are total classics. Others are weird as heck—no judgment. For example, my roommate’s family does ear candling and they compare with one another to see who removed the most earwax. According to my roommate, “10 out 10 would recommend.”
So whether it’s ear candling, binge-watching movies, making cookies with your little sister or brother, listening to Christmas music or simply engaging in conversation with your loved ones, make yourself the promise to be completely present this holiday!
Enjoy every minute spent with family because before you know it, you won’t be able to see them as often. Cherish your loved ones and show them how much they mean to you. Remind one another how blessed you feel to be part of such a loving, caring and fun family!
Happy Holidays Y’all!
