It's another edition of Solid Sounds hot off the press. Episode 105 features my good friend and former troop-mate Andrew Michael Jackson also known as Hazy. He tears up your eardrums with a solid performance on the 808 and we get the chance to sit down and discuss life, music, and other things.
The intro is nice and awkward, as per usual, so you know it's going to be a good show from the start. Hazy gets the audience/you/any listeners to warm up to his groove by initiating the mix with a soft lo-fi beat. In my humble opinion, this was an excellent choice by Hazy. His next song he queues up is
Modsun's Happybb
Nice transition, right? He really hit the nail on the head with this track as his second lead-off. You can't be angry listen to this song. Go ahead. Try and be angry while you listen. I'll be waiting, as a happy baby.
No, but seriously Modsun's fusion between raggaeton, hip-hop, and r&b are an eclectic combo. This is a real slapper of a song, and your mom would approve of you listening.
Hazy gets into some more EDM-ish songs after Modsun, no one in particular, just LOUIS THE CHILD. er-hem. Perhaps you didn't read what I clearly just typed in all caps.
Louis the child's Fire ft. Evalyn
After he's done roasting your ear canals with that certified slapper, he fuses some Frank Sinatra with a rap song, the likes of which I have never been more stupified from. Hazy really knocked my socks off in this mix within the first 15 minutes, and he isn't even warmed up yet. He still has some Skrillex, Mr.Meseeks (yes, from rick and morty), and Ski Mask the slump god.
You may be asking yourself, how do all of these songs sound together despite their variation in notable sounds. Your answer: Really (expletive)ing well. If you wanna find out what else Hazy/ Andrew Michael Jackson/ your next favorite DJ plays during the rest of the mix all you have to do is kick back and relax. Possibly drink your beverage of choice while doing so.
If you'd like to catch the live edition of Solid Sounds you can do so on 88.3 FM KXUA, our local Student-led Campus Radio station (which IS commercial free, I might include) every Saturday, 10 to 11 p.m.
Next weekend I'll have a Pre-produced mix to send us full-tilt into Spring Break, it's going to be one of the juiciest mixes yet, so stay tuned in.
