Solid Sounds 104: Review & Content
Sean Shoemaker

Solid Sounds is back again with a new episode starring my friend Blake Phillips! On this episode I interview Blake, as well as showcase some of his music. Blake is a producer/ DJ from Houston, Texas. He's been up in Fayetteville for school at the University Of Arkansas. Blake and I have known each other for roughly two years now, and in that time I have witnessed a lot of growth in his producing capabilities- even when the odds seemed stacked to stifle.

Solid Sounds Ep 104 feat Bmoney is also up on youtube, just click the highlighted words to the left, or click the link I'll leave at the bottom of the article.

To lead off the show we had some Skizzy Mars in the background, but Blake and I have better music ahead. Blake initiates his work off by playing a song pretty reminiscent of a Playstation 2 turning on, but remixed and with an actual melody and rhythm. It's bellissimo and a hard hitting banger that you and your friends could easily freestyle to.

After I announce the blatantly obvious of how the last song you were listening to was an exclusive, Blake's next project fades in. This is of course, another fantastic song for everyone to freestyle over, and we even do so in the Youtube video when this track comes on.

An abrupt, but quick transition leads us to the next slapper on this podcast. This song has a mesmorizing rhythm to me, the keyboard and 808's racketeering off of the hi-hat snares give the song a great pace and even more enjoyable delivery of bass.

As per usual, a request to call in from myself builds into ANOTHER beat by Blake (B-money) I really like the next song because I've watched Blake build it from near-scratch. This aery, yet uplifting tune is one of the most Solid Sounds I've had the privilege of sharing on my podcast/radio show.

Next week I've got my friend Andrew Michael Jackson on to do a live, on-air mix. I'll also be asking him some pretty cool questions as well. Next Monday I'll have the video of our interview and live set uploaded to YouTube. In the meantime, I hope you have a chance to check out and enjoy the latest edition of Solid Sounds.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
