Dear Society and your expectations,
After 18 years of being controlled by your expectations and guidelines… I have decided that you will no longer have any influence on me. I will look at myself the way I want to. I will dress myself the way I feel comfortable. I will do the things that I like to do and I will not care what others think. I am who I am, and I will never look to others to give their opinion. I’m choosing my own happiness. I want to look in the mirror and not think about what others think of me in the dress that I’m wearing or that I’m all dressed up with no makeup on. I will be happy in my own skin, look the way I want to look. No matter the things others say when I walk past, or the looks I may get… I don’t care. I have my own expectations for myself, if I like the way I look and I’m comfortable. I will walk down the street with purpose and a smile on my face.

Society says that to fit in now a days, that you need to be: tanned, stick thin but still have a big butt and boobs, have Kylie Jenner lips, have your face caked full of makeup, with your eyebrows “on fleek”. You’re setting yourself up for failure, if you’re listening to those expectations. To do all of those things, you would need to be a millionaire and know an amazing plastic surgeon.
1. I will not starve myself to please your eyes.
If I want the cupcake, I will eat that damn cupcake!
2. I will live a healthy lifestyle.
I will eat right some days, I will try to get my exercise in, or maybe I'll decided to be a bodybuilder! But if I want to lay in bed and eat a bag of chips, I’m going to do that!
3. I will wear the amount of makeup that I feel comfortable in!
If I don’t want to wear any, I won’t. If I was to slap every product I own on all at once, I will.
4. I will wear this tight form fitting dress, I think I look smoking hot.
If a fat roll is your biggest fear, you better close your eyes and run! Bet your ass, I will be on the dance floor!
5. I will not be all put together every day.
No matter if I have a full face of makeup on and my hair done, or no makeup and my hair in a messy bun, I will own it! No matter how I look doesn't give you the right to touch, remember that.
6. I may or may not make you a sandwich.
Just because I am an independent woman who knows how to cook and clean, doesn't mean I will do those things, because I feel like it…. BECAUSE I DON’T!
7. Being lady-like is not a requirement
If I want to swear I will. If I want to burp, I will. If I want to sit with my legs spread open, I will. Your definition of lady-like, maybe totally different than mine!
So ladies… Don’t let anyone tell you what you can and can do! Be who you are, look the way that you want to look, and do the things that you want to do. Just remember that you are beautiful in every way shape or form!
