In Chapter one, a lot of facts were interesting but something that really hit home with me was with the previous platforms and platforms being invented today on social media, as the book says. I do remember a time where I briefly had Xanga and Myspace thinking those platforms were the coolest ever, as I got to create an identity for myself and create my profiles through the fonts and colors.
So when Facebook and Twitter came to be in 2006 and 2009, these platforms became a part of social media's past even with their decline in the example on page 13. But, I do think that the platforms in the past like I mentioned have set the scene for today's social media as we also have Instagram, Snapchat, and Pinterest. These platforms also have helped tremendously in terms of social media selling sites, like Jane.com and Etsy as small businesses can easily link their products through Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest.
As a customer of small businesses on social media, I like that links are easy to access for me to buy things that I like. Altogether, I do agree with the book in that social media is still changing in the way it's created and accessed, as we now have all our social media on our phones and tablets. Social media will never go out of style I believe, and it is going to be something that our society is going to always be plugged into no matter what.
