Here's What You Need To Know About Being Exposed To COVID-19

If you've found yourself stuck in this situation, I'm so sorry. It's definitely one of the most nerve-racking and scary experiences someone can go through right about now. However, you're in the situation now, and the best thing to do is to follow some very important steps.

First, you should immediately quarantine

Until you know anything for sure, don't go anywhere. Stay home and notify those that you live with.

Depending on the severity of the exposure, notify those that you've been around recently.

If you already know a time frame in which you could have possibly been carrying it around, it's best to let the people you came in contact with during that time know. Tell them you'll keep them posted. Only tell those that would be mainly affected — according to my contract tracer, the general rule of thumb is exposure to someone (with or without a mask on) for more than fifteen minutes.

Wait for further information.

It's tough, but with the severity of COVID-19 in the United States and the nature of the virus, it's not wise to rush and get a test right away.

If you have access to testing and have deemed that you should probably get one (with mild or no symptoms but with the knowledge that you've been exposed), go get tested.

I like to really emphasize that last part. If you're scared, that's not a good enough reason to go get tested. There are people out there that need it more. You cannot put yourself first in a situation like this. A lot of cases can be dealt with from home, so keep calm and think rationally. If you're feeling symptoms, then obviously go get tested. If you know with 100% certainty you could have gotten it directly from someone you've been spending time with, go get tested.

Quarantine/isolate if instructed to do so (or you just know that you should).

Everyone knows the stakes at this point. You can be killing your family and the family of your roommate and friends. It really isn't worth it, whatever you're trying to do. You can wait.

I know this is a lot, but it is so serious. Don't try to play it off like it's not to make yourself or others feel better.

Good luck. You can make it through this. Remember to stay calm and reach out to those that you love.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
