It's most likely the talk of every town in sports news: Tim Tebow has signed a minor-league contract with the New York Mets.
When news broke about Tim trying out for a professional baseball team, there, of course, were haters. I saw and heard a lot of negativity, which baffled me. If Tim has any special talent, it would have to be his never-ending desire to succeed. He's super competitive, and he will stop at nothing to win. Even the people that think Tim Tebow isn't good at any sport have to recognize this. The Mets took a chance on someone who has a large amount of potential, as well as a load of self-discipline. He may not have looked all that great at the workout, but the Mets saw that he had a massive heart for the game. And, they can see from his extensive athletic resume that he will do whatever it takes to get the job done.
Now, he will not step right up to the majors just yet, but hopefully, there will be a great career come out of this drastic change for Tim. He will start in the fall instructional league, taking place in Port Saint Lucie, FL. He will have a lot of work to do and a lot of practice ahead of him, but if there's anyone who can make it, it will be Tim Tebow.
For all of you doubting Tim's ability to play baseball, here are some fun facts about Tim's early life. He, in fact, played both football and baseball up until his junior year of high school. He loved both sports, but when he began to be recognized for his talents at quarterback, he chose to dedicate all of his time to bettering himself for the sake of football.
Some may think that he made the wrong decision, but if he had chosen to stick with baseball, he never would have become the first sophomore to ever win the Heisman Trophy in 2007. He never would have lead the Florida Gators to two National Championships in 2006 and 2008. He never would have broken record after record in the game of college football.
So haters: If you think that you telling Tim he can't do something is going to stop him from trying, just look at his football career, and you'll see that you, sir, are wrong.
Plus, let's just consider how great Tim will look in baseball pants, am I right??
