So You're Living Off Campus: 7 Reasons Why It's Awesome

Moving off campus is the next greatest thing to having a lottery number that gets you a room in the Quad.

It’s senior year, and you’ve finally set yourself free from strict alcohol policies, mandated quiet hours and, most importantly, the scrutinizing eye of your Resident Assistant.

I’ve been living in my off-campus house with three roommates for about a week and it is absolutely awesome. While people may think that living off campus is rough -- trust me, paying bills is no fun -- being independent and on your own has its perks. Here is a few reasons why living off campus is actually awesome.

1. No RAs. This is self-explanatory. Every college student dreams of the day when they don’t have an RA breathing down their throats. Moving off campus is your ticket out of tip-toeing and secrecy.

2. You can light as many candles as you want. No school fire safety hazard rules to live by because you are an independent college student.

3. Real world experience. It gives you a chance to live on your own and get adult experience with the comfort and familiarity of your campus just around the corner.

4. Great roommates. If you are living off campus, chances are you actually like your roommates. This means you constantly have someone to talk to and keep you company during meals, hours of homework binging and, most importantly, socializing.

5. Endless laughs.  If you have great roommates, you will be having endless laughs because you are living with your best friends and everything in life is good (shout out to my roommates who have had me in stitches every day since we got here).

6. Entertain like the adults you are. Now that you actually have space, you can invite friends over for BBQs and cocktail parties or, in my case, Saturday bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches and Sunday family dinner.

7. Endless memories. Soon enough, you will have a name for your house or apartment which people use to reference your humble abode. Before you know it, you will have more memories in this off-campus establishment than anywhere else.

Your off-campus house or apartment is about to become your home away from home. Embrace all the struggles that come with it and enjoy the year because living off campus at Villanova brings a whole new dynamic to your college experience.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
