Why Snow Is The Best

While others loathe the presence of snow, I have grown to admire its beauty.

If you couldn’t already tell by the title, I love snow. As I sit here typing away vigorously, I pause after every few words to sip on my caramel macchiato and glance out the window.

Flakes coming in all different shapes and sizes fall delicately to the ground, producing a white coat for the Earth’s surface. It is a site that never gets old.

Unlike myself, many people are not fond of snow and the potential issues that accompany its arrival. I will admit that driving conditions are not the greatest when roads are covered with a slick sheet of ice. Other than this, I embrace all aspects of snow.

I know this may sound odd, but nothing relieves stress for me quite like bundling up in winter clothes, plugging in earbuds, and shoveling snow for hours. I’m young and still in fairly decent shape, so shoveling is not an inconvenience to me.

Sledding will never not be fun. Throughout my childhood, my friends and I have made it one of our top priorities to scope out optimal sledding spots for the winter months. We would spend hours flying down hills and venturing back up until our numbs bodies couldn’t handle the cold any longer.

The best part about snow is that it causes school to be canceled. I’m not lying when I tell you there’s no better feeling than waking up in the morning for class to find out it's not happening. Today, I have spent a majority of my time checking the weather, hoping that classes will be canceled so that I can continue to push off homework and studying.

Residents of New Jersey often complain about the bipolar weather that they endure. It could be sixty degrees and sunny, and then a blizzard arrives out of nowhere. Such uncertainty is just one of the many reasons why I enjoy living in this region. It supplies life with excitement; you really never know what’s going to happen next.

Snow is a natural creation that adds beauty to our already unique environment. If I had the choice, I would spend my entire life in a winter wonderland. Hopefully, this snowstorm progresses; I really don’t want to take my midterm tomorrow.

Enjoy it while it lasts and remember to wear your pajamas inside out!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
