When checking your flashbacks on Snapchat, they can range from one year ago to several years ago. Every picture taken on that day pops up. It can be a good or bad thing in my opinion. It's nice to reminisce, but alas there is a chance they lead to a feeling of loss or sadness. Here is what I have learned from the little tool Snapchat made to remind us of the past.
1. People are not forever.
Relationships in the moment mean everything to you. If you're anything like me, you surround yourself with friends and family any chance you get. There is nothing wrong with that, however, it can cause deep feelings of pain if they aren't who they seem or you have a falling out. I learned to stay cautious of who I spend my time on.
2. Don't take so many selfies in a row.
There are those days where you will skip through images for close to a minute or two. Those selfies you took those previous years suddenly seem stupid. You wonder why you took 100 photos of you with only a slight shift in between each click of the button. You look the same in all of them, let's save some storage.
3. You're not ugly.
Looking back at the endless nights of crying myself to sleep, I feel like I've wasted so much time. Instead of a night ride with some jams, I sat insecure about myself and how I looked. I know these are relatable thoughts we have all had. However, looking back, it made me realize that the things we worried so much about ourselves are minor issues compared to what we should spend our time and effort on.
4. Live in the moment.
This one's quite simple. Take some time to appreciate what is around you. Put the camera down and stop experiencing life through a screen.
